PJ is a 5 year old, Southern California native, born with Treacher Collins Syndrome like Auggie Pullman, the fictional character from the book/movie, Wonder.

PJ and Me

The “PJ’s for PJ” FUNdraiser is a pay to play concept. For a small donation to one of the listed non-profit organizations, the students are allowed to have a pajama day with PJ as we discuss kindness, inclusion, self-acceptance, and differences.

So far, PJ and his family have raised and donated over $75,000 to various non-profit organizations that help children.

PJ and his mother, Crystal, have become Certified Wonder Speakers with the Children’s Craniofacial Association and volunteer in schools that have read the Wonder series. Meeting a child just like Auggie Pullman brings the book to life and helps the students identify with the moral of the story - ChooseKind.

Recognizing the importance of learning philanthropy at a young age, Crystal started incorporating fundraisers with her presentations.

We had the amazing opportunity to meet the author of Wonder, R.J. Palacio.

I had thought about everything I wanted to say to her... I wanted to thank her for the obvious reason of writing a book that encourages kindness. I wanted to thank her for bringing awareness to children like my son.

But, mostly, I wanted to thank her separately from PJ.... Just from me - the former work-a-holic, abruptly turned full-time mother.

I wanted her to know that being able to read her books to children and enforcing her message is my new purpose. I now get to do something really meaningful and gratifying alongside my son. (And I also have Children’s Craniofacial Association to thank for that)”
